Discover Sibiu by bicycle (for beginners cyclists)
Highlights: Old Town of Sibiu with all the main attractions ( Big Square, Small Square, Huet Square,Orthodox Cathedral, Lutheran Church, Catholic Church, Council Tower ,Liars Bridge and others), Astra Museum, Sub Arini Park, Cisnadioara village, Rasinari village.
One one of my favourite way to discover new places is by riding my bicycle . You can cover longer distance is shorter time and it is a safe, fun and relaxing. Your bicycle will be provided by us considering your details like weight, height and age .
We will ride the bikes through the old town visiting all the interesting sites situated in Small Square, Huet Square, Big Square and in the other areas of the Old Town.
We can enjoy a coffee at one of the coffee shops while I will tell you the some interesting facts and stories about this old but still much alive city. After that we will visit the place where the construction of a new Citadel was started in the beginning of 18th century and then abandoned alert a few years later and where know you can find interesting buildings from 18th and 19th century. We will ride our bikes through one of the oldest parks in Romania, having been founded in 1856. At the present the park stretches over 22 hectares on which 68 tree species, among which 30 exotic species and 38 local species.
In our way to the Astra Museum of Folkloric Traditional Civilisation we will pass thrue the Dumbrava National Park, breathing the fresh air provided by this forest just 4 km away from the centre of the town.
The ASTRA Museum of Folkloric Traditional Civilization is situated in the Dumbrava Forest, at a distance of 4 km from the city. The museum functions since 1963 and stretches over 96 hectares and an exhibition circuit of 10 kilometers in length. The museum hosts original monuments representative for the values of the Romanian village. Dwellings from various parts of the country, interior decorations preserved in the original form, peasant industrial installations, traditional means of transportation etc are displayed here.
From here we can turn back in the city or continue our ride to Rasinari village or Cisnadioara village two pittoresque rural villages of Transylvania, Romania representative for the saxon culture ( Cisnadioara, 9 km from Astra Museum) and romanian culture ( Rasinari, 7 km from Astra Museum). These rides should be booked only for intermediate cyclists . A traditional marked with local products (sheep meat, sheep cheese, fruits, vegetables) take place every Saturday morning in the Rasinari . In Cisnadioara you can visit the beautiful citadel erected in the 13th century.
